F1 Season Kicks-Off At Bahrain GP
Ferrari-Top Podium
The season we have been waiting for have started with full top 4 teams that mostly dominate the top 5 chart with 3 new-teams competing for this year event (HRT, Lotus and VirginRacing, while USF1 didn't make it) after Toyota and BMW retired makes it 12-Teams and some of the rule changes which might makes the most famous international sports boring. We will see till the first quater season starts.Ferrari-Top Podium
The pre-season and track testing started at Jerez and Barcelona with 2010 new car after FIA rules out the ban on refuelling and tyre warmers. The minimum weight of the cars is also being increased from 605kg to 620kg, and there are revisions to the rules governing KERS. (read-more below) The qualifying stages at Bahrain GP went well with RedBull Vettel in pole-position infront of both Ferrari, Mclaren and Mercedes. Last year Champion, Jenson Button only managed to timed for the 8th position.
RedBull's Sebastian Vettel leads all the way at Bahrain GP followed by both Ferrari, Mclaren's Hamilton, both Mercedes, Webber and the rest, while the 3 new teams first debut only managed to hang on their position at the back. Smoke coming out from Australian Mark Webber RedBull car just after the first turn but managed to continue the race. The new rules and regulations for this season makes the first 2010 F1-Bahrain GP race abit dull and boring. Less excitement since there is only 1 pitstop available for each team, and not much overtaking and most of the teams are using the same strategies. All the drivers seems like hanging on to their car and crusing all the way till the end. Not much position has change from the starting line-up.
HRT's Karun Chandhok first debut in Formula 1 ended right after few turns in his first lap. The Indian racer failed to put in a single lap in any of the practice sessions, completed seven during qualifying and his race was run after just two when he caught a bump that spun him into a barrier, damaging his car's front wing and left-rear wheel. Meanwhile Virgin Racing driver, Lucas di Grassi only managed to hang on till turn 9 before he had to retire cause of hydraulics problem. Same goes to Kamui Kobayashi of Japan from Sauber and team-mate Pedro de la Rosa retired cause of same hyraulics problem.
Spanish Fernando Alonso, first debut for Ferrari won Bahrain GP the opening season of 2010 Formula 1 leading ahead team-mate, Felipe Massa to take one-two podium finish for the italian team ahead of Mclaren driver Lewis Hamilton. Vettel whom was leading all the way since qualifying had no problem at the front eventhough Alonso managed to get closed from 5.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds right after their pit-stop strategy. However, its a cruel day for Vettel right after lap 34, his engine had lost power, due to exhaust and spark plug problem (after being diagnosed after-race), limped to the checkered flag to finish fourth.
Fernando Alonso and team-mate Felipe Massa celebrate their one-two victory with Ferrari while Lewis Hamilton of Mclaren managed to over-take lost-power Sebastian Vettel before the end of the race for third position.
What a good early start for Ferrari and first debut Alonso as a Ferrari driver and Felipe Massa after a come-back from the incident in Hungarian GP last year. Congrats to both of them and Lewis Hamilton for third position. Not a lucky day for Sebastian Vettel and the Formula 1 all time winner, Mercedes-Petronas GP driver Michael Schumacher whom finished in 6th place behind team-mate Nico Rosberg.
And for 2010 Lotus F1 team, one of the 3 new-comers, well done after managed to finished the race in both cars. Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli hang on their car after a bad strategy that goes to Heikki and a hydraulics problem on Jarno Trulli car. HRT and Virgin Racing had to retired early after having a mechanical problems with their car.
We are still expecting something from them for the rest of the race.
