The New AWD Mini Countryman
Its has been out right before the Geneva AutoShow was held early this month. The legendry British brand MINI (BMW MINI) has gone far beyond expectation. This time it's the 4x4 MINI Countryman with four-doors and an optional of four-wheel drive system. Besides maintaining it as a go-kart style handling car, that have been characterised MINI since their first production in 1960 by BMC (British Motor Corporation), BMW-owned company still keen to show the essence of MINI in this Countryman with the chunky off-road design, styling elements of the firm's smaller cars are clearly noticeable. Including the high-window line, large head-lamps and upright tail lights and bigger interior.Watch the trailer after the bump.
The new MINI Countryman which is going to be their first crossover SUV, will make use of exactly the same engines as the other models, but will offer an optional all-wheel-drive or 4x4 powertrain (dubbed "ALL4") to allow minimal off-road and rugged terrain use. From the MINI ONE Countryman which is powered by an 89-bhp I4 engine to the top range Cooper S model which is powered by a 181-bhp turbocharged I4 engine. They are fitted with 6-speed manual transmission as standard but they have an optional of ultra-efficient 6-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.
This new MINI Countryman known as the ALL4, has an optional for the four-wheel drive system on two flagship models. The Cooper D and the Cooper S models, while the other variants will be a front-wheel drive SUV. Other than that, this MINI Countryman has a fuel-saving brake energy recuperation and a stop/start button system and a gearchange indicator.
Bigger interior inside was made for four adults and includes a centre-rail which runs the length of the cabin and allows the rear seat passengers more space and comfortness. Depending on how the seat are arranged, boot space can be increased from 350 liters to a cavernous 1150 liters which as an optional, the rear seat can be folded, a three seat arrangement are available at no cost. Other optional, buyers can option for a panoramic roof, adaptive headlights and high-end audio and navigation systems. Exterior options, include allow wheels ranging from 16 to 19 inches and lowering sports suspension.
Production will start in 2011 and the range price / starting price is around $25,000.
