Brand New Volvo S80 2.5T

Volvo Malaysia launched a new facelift for their S80 model. "If C30 is all about fun, then the new S80 2.5T is all about exclusiveness, power and speed", quoted from Mr. Goran Larsson, Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM). The upgrade done on the new S80 2.5 Turbo increases an extra RM10'000 on the current S80 price (OTR without insurance - 3.2L RM285K, 2.5T RM295K). Let see what the RM10'000 is all about.

1st stop, exterior. The new S80 2.5T will have a chrome trim on the front, rear eyeliner and at the lower door and also have larger iron mark on its grille. And, for the S80 2.5T model, you will have an extra 2 more exterior colours to choose from the existing 7, which are Ember Black and Ice White. Ember Black S80 lean more to the sporty, power type category while S80 in Ice White colour lean more to an exclusive side.

As for the interior, the added on a wooded element onto the steering wheel that believed will spark more exclusivity. The centre stack characterized with a silk metal frame, which can also be found in the gear selector and around the starter button contribute to the exclusive impression. And oh, the seats are really REALLY 'sick'.

For the new 2.5 Turbo engine, there are a lot of differences from the current one. Here are some of the differences based on engine specs between the new S80 2.5T and the 3.2L engine:

The safety system Volvo featured in this car really are state-of-the-art technology. The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Warning with Auto Break (CAWB), Driver Alert Control (DAC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Active Bending Lights really makes driving a much more safety experience. The CAWB system activates by alerting the driver with audible and visual signals when the driver does not slow down when approaching a vehicle from behind. And if the car still doesn't react after the signals, the break support system will automatically trigger. As for DAC and LDW, it will alert the driver with an audible signal if the system amalyzes the driver has lost focus on driving.

Comparing the added RM10'000 with all the gadgets and the extra build-in machinery in the new Volvo S80, I would say the S80 2.5T is still a bargain for an all exclusive car and is in its class of its own.
